On December 10, 2013 in Washington, DC, NBPC President Brandon Judd will be testifying before the Subcommittee on the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Federal Programs and the Federal Workforce. Judd will testify about the use of AUO and the need to modernize the pay system for Border Patrol agents in light of CBP’s continued attacks against AUO.
Also testifying will be Carolyn Lerner, Special Counsel for the Office of Special Counsel, Ron Vitiello, Deputy Chief of the Border Patrol, and Catherine Emerson, Chief Human Capital Officer for the Department of Homeland Security.
The NBPC will be live tweeting form the hearing and you can follow usIf the attacks on our pay by the implementation of “clean shifts”, the reduction of AUO, cash bonuses to managers for budgetary cuts, and the handing out of Presidential Rank awards to Chief Patrol Agents weren’t enough to gall you, then perhaps this will. There are those in Congress who now want to come after our pensions.
There are proposals to increase employee contributions from .8% to anywhere between 2% and 5.5%! This is money that will come directly out of our paychecks. We need our members to call their Congressional representatives and let them know that we have already contributed enough. Congress needs to keep their hands off of our pensions.
